# Duplicate steps

A message on day 1, day 30 and day 60 after surgery is the same step three times with a different
delay. Duplicate it and adjust.

## Duplicate a step [#duplicate-a-step]

1. Click the three dots in the step card's top-right corner.
2. Select **Duplicate**.

The copy appears below the original, with "(copy)" added to its name.

Rename it straight away. Several steps called "Follow-up message (copy)" make a care flow unreadable,
and clinicians see that name later.

## Use the step library for a step that belongs in several tracks [#use-the-step-library-for-a-step-that-belongs-in-several-tracks]

Duplicating is right for a one-off copy in the same track. For the same step across several tracks,
[add it to the step library](/docs/design-care-flows/add-steps-to-your-step-library) so there's one
version to maintain.
