What Panels is

Awell Panels is a live list of patients or tasks that a care team works from. Think of a panel as a spreadsheet that keeps itself up to date: the rows are patients or the work waiting on them, and the columns are whatever the team needs to see to decide who to help first.

Awell Care answers "what does this patient need next", and Panels answers "who needs attention first" across a whole population.

A care flow does the work, a panel is where the team sees it

A published care flow decides what should happen and when. It creates the work, sends the messages, and waits for the answers.

A panel is where that work becomes a list a team can act on: everyone who has an outstanding form, everyone discharged in the last three days, everyone whose next refill is due. Sort, filter and group it.

What appears in a panel

Patient details, data points and tasks all arrive from the care flow:

• Patient details. The patient profile. Panels creates the patient the first time it sees them, so no one has to add them by hand.
• Data points. Everything the care flow collects, including the baseline data it starts with. These become the columns a team filters and sorts on.
• Tasks. The work itself. A form or a message in a care flow becomes a task in the panel.

A task arrives with the data the care flow holds at the moment it is created, and each new task brings the latest data with it.

A patient's tasks are grouped by status

Opening a patient from a panel groups their tasks by status. Requested comes first, then the remaining statuses in a fixed order. Each group shows a count, and you can collapse it — so a long list of completed work folds away while the outstanding tasks stay in view.

Only statuses that hold a task appear. A group like Cancelled shows up only when a task is in it.

Each team chooses its own columns, filters and grouping

A panel holds one team's choice of columns, filters and grouping, and views built on it can be tailored further for a particular job without disturbing anyone else's. See Panels and views.
