Improve & analyze

Decide what a care flow should improve, set up the measurement before it goes live, then see how it is actually performing and what to change.

A care flow can run exactly as designed and still not work. This section covers how to tell the difference: what to improve, whether the improvement happened, where patients drop off, and where integrations fail.

This is the Monitor & Prove stage of the CareOps lifecycle: the point where a care flow stops being a plan and starts producing evidence about whether it worked, which feeds the next round of design.

Start before building, not after

These pages belong at the beginning of the work rather than the end. Deciding what should change, and how it will be measured, is far cheaper before a care flow exists than after it has been running for six months against a number nobody agreed on.

  • Decide what to improve. Turn a direction into a metric and a target, and pick the change worth making.
  • Awell Score. Pick a validated instrument to produce the number, from a CE-marked library of more than 170.
  • Know whether it worked. State the change as a hypothesis, test it, and translate the result into money.

Seeing what is happening now

Shelly also drafts form questions while a care flow is being built, which is a design task covered in Build forms with Shelly.
